The PAS2050 (Publicly Available Specification 2050) standard was published on 29th October 2008 by BSI British Standards, the Carbon Trust and Defra. It provides companies with the tools to analyse a product’s life cycle and assess embedded greenhouse gas emissions, from sourcing raw materials through packaging and distribution to consumer use and disposal impacts. It is anticipated that this could be a first step towards an internationally agreed standard for measuring greenhouse gas emissions.
The PAS2050 specification and a user guide can be downloaded free of charge from the BSI website, although you'll need to register.
